Quick Start: Basic Network Setup

General Setup

  • Select WAN Interface
WAN Interface is your external network interface.
To put it simply, this is the network of your board’s built-in LAN Port connected to an internet source such as your modem. Your WAN (external) IP Address is provided by your modem or router.
  • LAN Setup
You can choose either USB Lan or VLAN setup for your LAN.  For more details about USB to LAN and VLAN Setup, please refer to this link Add Access Point
LAN is your internal network. All devices connected to your wifi vending machine will be a member of this network.

Show more options

Checking the box above will show the following Advanced Options:

  • IP Address
Select an IP Addressing scheme for your LAN or internal network from the following options:
    • 10.0.0.1/20 (most commonly used)
    • 20.0.0.1/20
    • 192.168.11.1/24
    • 192.168.22.1/24
  • Max Hop
Tethering is a feature in mobile devices where a connected device in your machine, will act as a hotspot and can share its data.

This feature here, blocks internet access to tethered devices or devices with hops greater than what you set. By default, it’s set to 1 which means tethering is disabled.
  • Allowed Ports
Just like walled-garden, you can allow users with no running session to access certain TCP/UDP ports. Separate ports by comma. Ex: 80,443.

Walled Garden

Allows users with no running sessions to access certain websites/services.  To add users, input the user’s device IP Address and click the “+Add” button.

WAN Interface

WAN Interface is your external network interface.
To put it simply, this is the network of your board’s built-in LAN Port connected to an internet source such as your modem. Your WAN (external) IP Address is provided by your modem or router.

  • Interface Alias
You can set a name or an alias for this network so you can easily identify that this is your external network (WAN).
  • Dynamic IP Address
If checked, it means your wifi vending machine IP Address is assigned dynamically (random) by your modem.

Uncheck the box above to change it to static settings.
    • Static IP Address
You can just copy the IP address provided by your modem as your static IP Address. When your machine reboots, this IP Address will not change.
    • Network Prefix
Check your external network prefix and set the same here. For example: 24
    • Gateway
The IP Address of your modem. For example: 192.168.1.1
    • Use System DNS Server
You can use system DNS Server by checking the box above. You can also add multiple DNS servers separated by space.
