Cookie Authentication

Provide additional security for your users

by Adones Pitogo

Enable cookie authentication

When enabled, users need to use only one browser to access the portal. To use multiple browsers, the user must need to enter his personal token (identification number) in the portal.

User's token can be found in `WiFi Users` list.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT CAPTIVE PORTAL: Remember that captive portal (the one that pops up when you first connect to the network) and a reqular browser do not share the same cookie. Advise your users to close the captive portal when they connect to your network and use a regular browser like chrome when accessing the portal.

Allow user to use multiple browsers

As mentioned above, when this option is enabled, the user can use multiple browsers on the same device by entering his personal Token into the second browser.

You can enable this options in the `Admin > Bandwidth Limiter` section globally or individually in the wifi users list.

You can enable this options in the Admin > Security > Cookie Authentication section globally or individually in the Wifi Users list.

Allow user to transfer remaining time to another device

This option allows the user to transfer his remaining time to another device. The first device will be disconnected and second device will have the same time as the first device.

Note that when transfering remaining time to the second device, there hostnames will also be interchanged. This is to avoid confusion as to why the second device with remaing time suddenly has time and got connected.

Update Nov. 9, 2018: On version 3.0.77, Only the remainning time is transferred to another device. Hostname of devices will not be changed.

You can enable this options in the `Admin > Bandwidth Limiter` section globally or individually in the `Wifi Users` list.

You can enable this options in the Admin > Security > Cookie Authentication section globally or individually in the Wifi Users list.
